colton newborn session // bedford kentucky newborn photographer // sneak peek!

I photographed Colton’s big sister for her first year and couldn’t be more excited to get to watch this adorable little boy grow through his first year too! His newborn session took place in Milton, Kentucky and we had so fun with this 14 day old newborn.

Mom and dad are such wonderful people and just adore little Colton. (Plus big sister is already giving him kisses!)

Here’s a little peek for you!

luke // newborn session // sneak peek // bright indiana newborn photographer

I am very excited to welcome baby Luke into my Baby Collection program. I met this adorable little family outside of Lawrenceburg Indiana for this in-home newborn session.

Mom and Dad kept his gender under wraps until his early debut in March… (wha??) and they pulled it off seamlessly (go you two!)

It was so great to meet up with this family and meet big brother Kyle and work with adorable baby Luke. A big congratulations to this family on a healthy, sweet baby boy.

Here are a few peeks into what I’m looking at tonight on my computer! Love, love love those little lips!

For more information on the Baby Collection, shoot me over an email at amyjohorn@gmail.com and let’s chat! : )

gavin newborn session // cincinnati ohio baby photographer

I was very surprised when little Gavin decided to make his debut 3 weeks earlier than expected (his parents moreso than me!). I was very excited to meet him for our newborn session at the family’s home in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a sound little sleeper for our entire newborn photography session and posed so well.

It is very exciting that little Gavin is in my Baby Collection program, which means I will be able to capture his first year milestones! A big congratulations to Molly and Tyler on the arrival of this sweet, sweet boy.

Here’s a little peek at his baby session. Enjoy!

As a photographer, I love nothing more than to walk into a home and see family photos on display. Even more of a compliment is when I see pictures I’ve taken turned into art on their walls. Many times, it’s difficult to think of where to start with turning a blank wall into a showcase of your family.

Each week I’ll be posting a few images I’ve found on the world wide web here for you to gain inspiration from. Click the image to trace to the root image of the photo, as these are not my images.

Happy Monday for all of you readers. Hope these images help inspire you to create and display beautiful works of photography!

This would be excellent to display a first year overview from the Baby Collection program or even your favorites from one session:

what a great way to incorporate pictures from the newborn session into the nursery. I really love the one large image with supporting smaller ones around it.

mary // newborn session // cincinnati ohio baby photographer

Take a moment and welcome the newest member to the AHP Baby Collection, Mary! This little wonder arrived in Cincinnati Ohio right before Christmas! I was so blessed to be able to capture this momma’s pregnancy in maternity photos and then meet little Mary, who was the best present her parents could receive so close to the holidays.

I took time off from my day job during the holiday season and was able to easily fit in a session with this sweetie. Here’s a little sneak peek of the great time I had during our session.

allison grace // newborn session // madison indiana photographer

I had this little girl in Madison, Indiana for her newborn photography session at just five days new. She was so tiny and sleepy that I was able to get a few really neat composite shots too. 🙂

Here’s the first composite image I did while she was awake. I combined two images to create this one. I had her dad holding on to her in two different areas and used a tripod to keep my camera in the same location. With dad holding her the entire time, little Allison was never in any danger.

This was a really fun composite image. This final image consists of four images. One of just the guitar and three of Allison being held on the guitar by her dad and grandma. Dad is a musician, so this end product ended up being pretty special to him.

Mommy and Daddy are also black belt martial artists, by the way.

baby grace {lawrenceburg, indiana newborn photography}

I can’t contain my excitement about being able to watch this family grow! I first photographed baby Grace when I captured Denise’s maternity (here) and then once the little angel was just a week old. I traveled to the family’s home outside of Lawrenceburg, Indiana (which for those of you who don’t know, is just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio’s outer loop).

I can’t wait for her other milestone sessions to come! (three months is just around the corner)

Here are some of my favorites of baby Grace and her family from the newborn session.

For information on Milestone Packages and newborn or baby sessions, please email at amyjohorn@gmail.com

Thanks and enjoy!

Baby Paityn

I had the pleasure of meeting this tiny baby girl when she was just 10 days old. Her grandmother and mother arrived a little early at the photoshoot with this wide-eyed little girl and we spent some time snuggling and doting over Paityn.

I met them in Milton, Ky., near Madison, Indiana, where I do most of my indoor infant shoots. I was finally able to try out some of the headbands that I made a while back and my pink tutu on a newborn!

Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot. For all of my favorites, visit the Imagine Photography page at www.facebook.com/ahornphotography

Thanks, and enjoy!

A big thanks to my friend, Robin Hampton, who made this adorable hat!

baby chase

I enjoyed a lovely sunny morning with the week-old Chase Micheal, the adorable infant son of Katie and Andrew Webster. This tiny wonder was such a great little model.

Chase rounds out the latest of infant boy photography I am doing in the Madison, Indiana area. I just love natural light, artistic photography and was very excited to get the change to test out my new infant props.

Congratulations to the Websters and thank you for letting me document such a great new addition to your family!

For fun, here’s a photo of Cody at nine months:

Aiden

The best time to photography innocent infants is right after feeding. If you’re wanting more awake photos, wait until the little one gets about 6-8 weeks old where they are able to follow lights and sounds with their eyes and head. Here’s a few of baby Aiden when he was 6 weeks old.

who had the best christmas card this year?

How many times do you get a Christmas card in the mail and it’s off-center, over-exposed, the dog is licking the baby and junior has his eyes closed? Okay. Maybe that is an exaggeration, but you get the drift. Now, think of the cards you’ve gotten over the past year that made you stop and smile. Or better yet, say, “That’s a great picture!”

Family photos are not just a great way to share cheer during the holiday, they are something to be treasured. My heart literally breaks when people share with me that they haven’t had family portraits since a child was a baby (or before others were born!).

I believe everyone has a right to great photos to share, display and cherish. Family photo sessions are particularly popular in the fall and book fast with the upcoming Christmas card rush. Take advantage of the fall foliage or even the spring blooms by booking early. Photos can be an intimate family photo, extended relatives or even with pets!

childhood photography is a must

Although it is pretty common for many mothers/father to own a digital camera (either in person or on a phone), there is still a need for fine photography of a child. Mom or Dad can be in charge of the day-to-day candid capturing, but there’s something magical that happens when I photograph children. I have a tradition of photographing a nephew of mine each year on or near his birthday. Then I make a photobook of the session. The two-year photos he painted pictures for his mother and grandmother and I captured it. The canvases made great Christmas gifts and Cody had a lot of fun doing it! I’ll post more from the paint session later.

I wish more parents, aunts, grandparents, etc. would adopt this tradition. Although Cody is only two, our family had a wonderful time looking at this year’s album compared to last years. This is a great tradition to start early – or anytime. My biggest regret is that I didn’t do a newborn session with him to start off the collection! If you’re interested in a session, don’t hesitate to e-mail. Photobooks can be included in a package, if you’re interested.

babies, babies everywhere!

I know at least three pregnant women at all times. I’m not kidding. I love nothing more than when a mother approaches me to document special memories of her baby. What many people don’t realize is that the best time to photograph an infant is within the first 14 days after being born. So plan ahead!

Infant sessions are an intimate experience. E-mail for infant rates and see about packages for infant photography, three, six, nine month and one year sessions for one price!

Welcome!

First of all, I want to thank you for visiting Amy Horn Photography. You’re here for one of three reasons 1.) you love photography 2.) you need photography 3.) you love me! Well, you may be visiting this site for all three reasons, which is perfect in my eyes.

This Website has been a long time in the making. I want to thank my good friend, Mike Brennan, for designing this beautiful, user-friendly site (for me and viewers).

Let me introduce myself, I love photography. I often use the word “Imagine” to describe my craft – I want my clients to imagine photography as an art.

I live outside of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and am a photographer and marketing associate for a company outside of Cincinnati, in Northern Kentucky. A lot of my sessions are in Madison, Indiana, which is near my hometown.

To start my site, I’ll be updating several blog entries at once to build my photos for the home page. So I’m dedicating them to the types of photography I do.

You can always interact with me on www.facebook.com/ahornphotography or you can e-mail me at amyjohorn@gmail.com.
