schafer family favorites

Here are a few of my favorites from my Sunday afternoon session with the Schafer family. The session was at the Schafer home in Canaan, outside of Madison, Indiana. It was the first time in several years that this entire clan came together in the same place! It was great to watch them all smile at one other and enjoy one another’s company.

childhood photography is a must

Although it is pretty common for many mothers/father to own a digital camera (either in person or on a phone), there is still a need for fine photography of a child. Mom or Dad can be in charge of the day-to-day candid capturing, but there’s something magical that happens when I photograph children. I have a tradition of photographing a nephew of mine each year on or near his birthday. Then I make a photobook of the session. The two-year photos he painted pictures for his mother and grandmother and I captured it. The canvases made great Christmas gifts and Cody had a lot of fun doing it! I’ll post more from the paint session later.

I wish more parents, aunts, grandparents, etc. would adopt this tradition. Although Cody is only two, our family had a wonderful time looking at this year’s album compared to last years. This is a great tradition to start early – or anytime. My biggest regret is that I didn’t do a newborn session with him to start off the collection! If you’re interested in a session, don’t hesitate to e-mail. Photobooks can be included in a package, if you’re interested.
